If you want to Bible journal digitally you will need Adobe Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements is on sale now for $69 at  I do not recommend any alternative for Bible Journaling for several reasons:

  1. I’m creating Bible Journaling tutorials using Photoshop Elements.
  2. I have created Bible Journal templates only available in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop
  3. Ninety percent of digital scrapbooking tutorials (free and paid) are in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop
  4. It is the best program and the industry standard for digital scrapbooking and photos.
  5. Most other program are not as good and many cause computers to crash.

What is the Difference Between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?

Photoshop Elements is a consumer product. It’s made for users who don’t need as many features and complex options. It has a simpler design, guided workflows, and an organizer to help you manage your files.

I use Photoshop (much, much more expensive than PSE) because I am a commercial publisher.  Photoshop Elements does not support the following CMYK, Lab, Multichannel color modes needed by commercial publishers (which you don’t need if you do not commercially print). Photoshop is industries as the standard for digital image manipulation and painting. It has very rich, and often complex, tools and options.

Photoshop Elements comes with a database driven Digital Asset Management application called Elements Organizer which is fantastic for digital scrapbooking with a lot of images. I purchased PSE because Photoshop does not come with the Organizer.

The Elements organizer

The organizer is for sorting your image library, with intelligent modes that help to divide your photos into categories based on People, Places and Events. All three categories have been improved since Elements 13. Facial recognition is the biggest revelation. Tasked with pulling out faces from a set of 200 wedding photos, the new organizer’s success rate was about a third better than the old Elements 13 organizer, with fewer mistakes. What’s more, as you add new photos Elements will recognise faces and automatically add them to a person’s stack. If you like to organise your photos by faces, the improvements are very welcome.
